Mississauga's Only 5-Star Retirement Living
Designing a model suite that addresses the needs of active seniors is what Retirement Life Communities does best. For over 20 years they have specialized in the design, development and management of luxury seniors retirement residences across Canada.
Retirement Life's latest community, Palisades on the Glen, is located in Mississauga on the grounds of the prestigious Glenerin Inn. The new 22 storey luxury rental and condominium residence is exclusively offered to seniors who are looking for a 5-star retirement lifestyle experience.
"We design our suites and amenities to suit the ever changing lifestyle needs of seniors, so they can have access to a multitude of services in order to comfortably age-in-place," reports Susan Radun, in-house designer for RLC. "The Marshwood Model suite is a perfect example of this. At 1,098 sq.ft., the two bedroom plus den/breakfast room Marshwood suite is both spacious and well designed making the transition from a larger home to suite living easy and exciting".
"Many of our residents are downsizing from large homes and wish to bring a few of their favourite heirloom pieces with them. We have decorated the model suite to reflect this - a balanced mix of cherished antiques with the new," says Ms. Radun. The model suite has formal furniture, elegant draperies and traditional accessories wrapped in a rich palette of cherry toned engineered hardwood floors and taupe walls with crisp white trim package.
"We want our residents to see how elegant and spacious our suites are. We want them to feel they haven't sacrificed space, indoors or out, when moving from a home to Palisades on the Glen. All of our suites offer exceptional views of the Sawmill Valley, Lake Ontario and the surrounding conversation lands."
"Our room proportions, soaring 9' ceilings, open concept spaces, large windows and furniture-sized wraparound glass balconies all contribute to the spacious and airy ambiance that seniors are receptive to," assures Ms. Radun.
Residents can enjoy wide hallways with classic old world doors with easy grip levered hardware and convenient "purse and parcel ledge" just outside their suite entrance. "This let's our residents put their package down to easily look for keys without bending over. We even have automatic suite entry lighting so you'll never come into a dark home," adds Ms. Radun.
Wide peep holes are offered on the wider than average entry doors too providing residents peace-of-mind. The gracious foyer is wood laminate flooring with handsome slider doors, ideal for circulation and greeting guests. In fact, the foyer and hall is wide enough for a credenza or picture gallery.
The open-concept kitchen has quality cabinets with large pulls for easy grip and lots of lighting from overhead fixtures and pendant lighting over the raised counter bar. Abundant natural light is also provided by the kitchen's over-sized sliding door to the balcony. "Our kitchens have been designed to a take advantage of panoramic views. Granite countertops, single lever faucet, Energy Star appliances are included. Residents appreciate the easy Euro-styled combination washer/dryer in the kitchen for light laundry (housekeeping services look after linens). Appliances are selected for smart features such as side-by-side refrigerators, and ranges without rear controls that ensure safety when preparing foods.
The Marshwood plan provides plenty of options for casual or formal eating arrangements. "Even though we offer an executive chef and beautiful dining room overlooking the ravine of Sawmill Valley, many of our residents want to continue to have a dining area in their suite. We respect that and offer a few layout options. In addition to the kitchen's casual raised breakfast bar our kitchens are large enough to accommodate an eat-in cafe table. The den area, adjacent to the kitchen is ideal as a cozy breakfast room or a formal dining area, as we have decorated it. The living room can accommodate a dining table and hutch if our residents want to hold on to the family dining set," adds Ms. Radun.
The Marshwood's bedroom options are also very flexible. "Our residents value the 2 bedroom, 2 bath option for a number of reasons. Senior couples love the option of having two master suites should they choose. Grandparents love having the extra bedroom for visiting family. We have decorated this suite with a master bedroom option and a den layout that does double duty as a guest bedroom with a handy pullout sofa bed. It really gives you the freedom to enjoy a more casual TV/reading room with the benefit of a extra bedroom when needed."
The Master Retreat is a study in hotel-inspired glamour. "We wanted the bedroom to be a room to relax in style. The 30's style upholstered bed is dressed in tonal silks of taupe and silver. Chic mirrored night tables and Lucite lamps, create a nostalgic feel." Warm and inviting carpet, soft wall colour, his and hers closets and wall to wall, floor to ceiling windows draped in sheets and gorgeous fabric creates a serene ambiance.
The master and main bathrooms are sumptuous and safe boasting much appreciated features such as barrier free shower, molded shower bench, hand held shower faucet, low-threshold tubs, extra height toilet, motion light sensor, overhead heat lamp, easy reach light switches and electric plugs. "These are just a few of the safety features in our bathrooms that enable seniors to continue to live an active independent life," adds Ms. Radun.
The Marshwood model demonstrates the many built-in features that showcase RLC's unique built-in services and features for seniors. Each suite is smartly designed with built-in peace-of-mind features seniors truly appreciate - such as 24 hour emergency response system and round-the-clock security. One press of a button brings an immediate response. Large panoramic door scope, ergonomic door levers, even large button appliances all contribute to an easy and independent lifestyle that proud seniors want to maintain.
