5 Ways to Improve Your Home’s Curb Appeal in Mississauga

Curb appeal is one of the most important things to consider when listing your home for sale. But, as owners, we can sometimes become blind to the things that potential buyers may notice, like an unruly garden, dirty windows or chipped exterior paint. Even though these issues may seem small, they can make your home look dated or uninviting – two things that can deter potential buyers from wanting to see more.

Don’t get caught in the dreaded drive-by trap! Here are five easy suggestions to help improve your Mississauga home’s curb appeal without spending a lot of money or effort:

1. Gardens and Flowers

Buyers are drawn to colourful flowers and green shrubbery, and they make your home look welcoming and well cared for too. To add some freshness to your garden, choose shrubs and flowers that require as little care as possible.

2. Trim Trees and Shrubs

Overgrown trees and shrubs can hide your home and its beautiful features; not to mention, make it look unkempt and unloved. By simply trimming back your existing trees and shrubs, potential buyers will be much more inclined to view your home and feel welcomed when they approach your property.

3. Fresh Paint

A fresh coat of paint can go a long way to making an old house look new again. And, you don’t need to paint the whole outside! Most of the time, simply repainting old wooden-framed windows and doors can breathe new life into your home’s exterior. Also, if you have rusted railings, a quick lick of paint will get them looking new again.

4. Walkways, Curbing and Grass

The grounds on your property are just as important as the actual house itself. Making sure that walkways are clean and safe is very important, as is a nicely manicured lawn. You don’t want buyers to be distracted by broken-up concrete or a lawn full of weeds.

5. Regular Maintenance

Once you get your home’s curb appeal in tip-top shape, you must remember to maintain it too. That means regularly cleaning out your gutters, power washing your walkways and driveway, weeding your lawn and gardens, deadheading flowers, topping up mulch and keeping your property looking neat and tidy. Even just a few minutes a day is all you need.
